  • Job Details
  • Specialty: 4 South (Medsurg / Neuro unit) - CC10331
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Unit/Department specific orientation: First day includes all paperwork and attestations, logins for Omnicell and Epic, tour of unit. Additional two 12-hour night shifts with preceptor.
    • Job Requirements
    • Level 1 trauma experience required
    • Experience at a larger facility with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients
    • Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes
    • Typical nurse to patient ratios for all Medsurg units is 1:5 up to 1:6 at times; ratio is adjusted down for higher acuity patients
    • Charge RN's have ACLS certification
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts are 12 hours, 7a-7p or 7p-7a
      • Scheduling: Open to block scheduling as schedule allows, open to weekenders
      • Weekend Requirement: Every other or 2 weekends per month as standard
      • Holiday Requirement: Rotate in with regular staff
      • Floating Requirements: Within skillset, staff float between all Medsurg units
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Nurse:Ppatient Ratios: 1:5 up to 1:6, adjusted for higher acuity patients
        • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both present
        • Charge nurse takes light patient assignment, full load if necessary
        • Educator and manager for each unit
          • Additional Details
          • Required certifications: BLS
          • NIHSS
          • 50 mile radius rule for travelers
          • Flu vaccine required at UMMC; only medical exemption allowed with documented evidence
          • Fingerprinting must be cleared prior to start
